What To Look For In Gaming PCs

While the typical workstation is powerful enough to handle multitasking between several processor-intensive programs and is likely to power through any kind of media you can throw at it, it isn’t likely that any of the games will be playable at an acceptable level. This is because these games require higher end hardware designed specifically for higher end games. There are a number of components in gaming PCs and gaming laptops that you need to look at to make sure your games will run smoothly. The cost of some of the highest end components can sometimes be greater than that of a basic workstation. Still, it is possible to make a few compromises and spend less while still being able to enjoy the latest games that keep coming out.

The video card is the most important part that makes up a gaming PC because it takes rendering video and graphics away from the CPU. This frees up the CPU to run other non-graphics tasks and allows for smooth and detailed renders of 3D models, environments, and visual effects. The highest end video cards can cost as much as a typical workstation, and can cost several times more than the cheapest PCs. However, there are also cheaper video cards that would still allow you to play graphically intensive 3D games but at lower video quality settings and at lower resolutions. The video renders are not as detailed, but you can literally save hundreds of dollars by skipping some settings and go with a lower end card that can still run everything at high settings. The specifications of these video cards are constantly being improved with every new release, so make sure you compare between cards when buying gaming PCs or building a rig of your own.

There are other components you should also concern yourself with. While getting the best processor isn’t necessary, it does help since it handles all the non-graphics tasks. A more powerful processor also gives a boost to gaming PCs that are more often for online games. Another important part is the memory or RAM. Insufficient RAM can drastically slow down your games, and RAM impacts not only your games, but other applications as well. Hard disk storage is important because many games can occupy more than 10 gigabytes of space. The basic hard disk found on the most basic systems being sold these days typically start out at 320 gigabytes. Combined with a large music and video library and thousands of important documents, this can mean you can only install 2 to 5 games at any one time. A terabyte or more is best so that you can play more games at any time.

Addiction of the Racing Games

Among some of the most addictive games you can find online, the racing ones are definitely on top of the list. The smooth graphic lines, the detailed cars, and the 3D world created by real artists, are all implemented in some of the most awesome games with cars. And all of this effort really pays of when you see the reaction these marvelous games create. It starts slow and progressively grows into a major addiction you just can’t stop, and you won’t even want to!

Your First Racing Game

As you start your first online engine, you just test the waters to see if they are as spectacular as everyone says they are. It takes a little while to get used to the control keys, the mouse, or joystick, but once you get the hang of it, you will slowly start to like it very much. A lot of possibilities will open before your eyes, enabling you to discover fantasy worlds in your pimped-out ride. It’s true, the online gaming zone offers you more than what the real life can, at least when it comes to cars. Driving a Ferrari, a Lamborghini or a Maserati will probably never happen in the real life. So as you drive your first online car, think about the fancy model you want to upgrade.

Awesome Rides

After a few laps, a few failures and bumps in the road, you will totally get the hang of it. Awesome rides will soon follow, and your driving skills will totally improve. You can speed up without bumping into obstacles, you can do tricks, and you can win challenges to unlock the super cars. Driving your real car will seem like a boring thing to do now, not to mention far more dangerous. But in the virtual space, any trick is allowed, there is no speed limit and the cars crashing into each other is simply another way to start over with a fresh one. And of course, you will want to start over, proving everyone that you can do it better. Most of the racing games online will engage you in an ambitious ride, making you want to control and dominate the streets forever. And this is how the addiction starts!

Getting Deep Into the Addiction

Once your driving skills are sharpen to perfection, you will strive to be the best among any driver out there. Spending more and more hours in front of your computer will be considered an effort worth your time. The reward is the most amazing cars, your name up on high-scores board and even bragging about it to your friends. Soon enough, racing games will have you tied up to your computer screen, incredibly focused and super determined to ride your car for one more lap!

Top PS3 Games for 2012

We’ve crunched the numbers, digested the data, and come up with four of the top PS3 games for 2012. These games are among the most anticipated titles to come out for the Playstation 3 console, and we are as excited as any gamer out there to get our hands on them.

We couldn’t really decide which of the following games should be on top of the heap, so we thought, what the heck… nobody said that all lists should be ranked, right? With that all settled, here are four of what we believe will be the top PS3 games for 2012:

Twisted Metal

A much-anticipated reboot of the popular car combat franchise, this one deserves to be on everyone’s top PS3 games for 2012. The fans were disappointed when Twisted Metal’s scheduled release for 2011 didn’t push through, but we’re done with the whining and we’re just happy that it’s going to be finally released (hopefully). With new characters, new weapons, and new vehicles, this game is expected to have an explosive comeback.

Final Fantasy XIII-2

This direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII looks to fix everything that was wrong with its predecessor, which should appease a lot of gamers who were downright displeased with the first title. Final Fantasy XIII-2 is set three years after the events in FF XIII, but this time, Square promises to deliver improved RPG and exploration elements for eager fans.

Hitman: Absolution

The first two “Hitman” titles could be considered as milestones in the development of stealth-action games. The sequel was notably a delight to play, but punished those who preferred to go in with guns blazing every time instead of carrying out a tactical approach to accomplish the mission. The next two titles, however, seemed more like spin-offs instead of sequels.

We believe that this title deserves a place in our list of the top PS3 games for 2012, primarily because Hitman: Absolution is expected to bring back the franchise to its former glory. Players can look forward to improved gameplay elements (such as being able to utilize more objects as improvised weapons), and better visuals (smoother action, kill animations, and a more realistic world).

Mass Effect 3

In the first two weeks after its release, Mass Effect 2 sold over two million copies and grabbed a bunch of awards in the process. Several gaming publications gave it perfect scores in their reviews, and was considered as (arguably) the best game for 2010. So is it any wonder that the upcoming release of its sequel has generated such excitement?

The third and final chapter (we assume) in this action-RPG trilogy sets us up for the completion of Commander Shepard’s saga. Everything you loved about Mass Effect 2 is here, with a refined movement and cover system, as well as instant melee kills and a 4-player multiplayer mode. Its grand reputation coupled with finely-tuned gameplay makes it a no-brainer to include ME3 as one of the top PS3 games for 2012.

Wii Games for Health and Fitness

Wii Games were known to feature favorite action heroes, adventure and fantasy plots, and sports. But many are also enjoying it now to tone their bodies with programs like Nintendo Wii Fit and Zumba Fitness. Which would be the best pick for you? Here are some of the features of each game.

Wii Fit is built with the family’s fitness concerns in mind. It’s a fun core workout program that lets you compare your results instantly. Each Wii Fit set includes a Balance Board that you’ll need in learning positions and movements in your sport, dancing, and yoga. Recently added games include Skateboarding and Rhythm Kung Fu.

Since not everyone’s fitness goals are the same, Wii Fit lets you customize your training exercises. You can change the duration of every exercise session and spend the exact amount of time you have available. You can also choose the types of exercises to target certain parts of your body that you want to work on. In the comforts of your living room, you can virtually race in a Segway Personal Transporter or challenge yourself in an obstacle course. Just like an advanced fitness equipment, you can also check the estimate of the calories you’ve burned from the games.

Zumba, perhaps the hottest dance fitness program today, is a set of exercises taking its moves from various Latin dances like cumbia, meringue, salsa, mambo, samba, chachacha, and many more. It also infuses some hip hop moves and belly dancing. This fun fitness routine, which was created by choreographer Beto Perez in Colombia during the 1990s, can now also be enjoyed at home in the Majesco Zumba Fitness, one of the hottest Wii games these days.

The latest version of this game gives you a chance to sweat it out with no less than the creator himself, Beto Perez, plus other international dance instructors. You can choose from the 30 dance tracks to get you into the groove of fitness and Latin dance when you play the game in Single Song Mode. If you want more fun, you can select the Full Class setup or, better yet, the Zumba Party mode. You can also choose the ambience onscreen – from nightclub to yacht club.
